  • Inspect the following areas of your home or property for any air or light leaks. Windows, doors, vents, fans, plumbing, gas lines, air conditioners, mail chutes, electrical and garage doors.
  • Head on out to your local Home Depot or Lowes to pick up weather stripping. Be sure to read the directions as weather stripping installation differs from types and placement. Buy only a high quality silicone caulking that is made to withstand the climate you live in.

Water damage is one of the most common and costly disasters affecting our residents, accounting for billions of dollars in losses to homeowners and renters annually. Preventing frozen pipes could save you thousands. Here’s a few tips to ensure you’re ready for the winter months.

  • Maintain heat within the home or household by regulating the temperature and heat distribution. Remember that heat rises, forcing air flow to the lower portions of your house can help maximize heating efficiency.
  • Pipes located in attics, crawlspaces, and outside walls are all at the highest risk of freezing and bursting. Try to keep the surrounding area warm and when possible, insulated to reduce the risk of failure.
